1. Medicaid Benefits

   The Texas Medicaid Day Activity and Health Services (DAHS) Program provides adult day care services on weekdays during daytime hours to eligible Texas residents, up to 10 hours per day. Services, such as personal care, snacks, congregate meals, and social activities are provided at licensed centers throughout the state. The objective is to allow participants who would otherwise require full-time nursing home care, to receive care during normal business hours and continue living at home or in the community with their primary caregivers on nights and weekends. This allows the elders to remain living in their homes or the homes of family members while a family caregiver may continue to work during day time hours.

2. Veterans Benefits

   Adult day care services are included in the VHA Standard Medical Benefits Package. All enrolled Veterans are eligible if they meet the clinical need for day care services. The benefit can cover services up to 5 times a week. Lido Senior Club is contracted with the Veterans Administration to provide day care services in Harris County. 3. Long Term Care Insurance

   LTC plans pay for care and services needed by elderly or disabled individuals that are not covered by regular health insurance. Benefit payments from these policies are triggered when the elderly or disabled individuals are unable to do at least two of six Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) on their own (eating, bathing, toileting, continence, dressing, and transferring). While there are LTC plans that are comprehensive and cover a myriad of services, some policies are bought to pay for services provided only in facilities such as adult day care centers and assisted living facilities.

4. Private Pay

   Should a family be unable to find financial assistance for adult day care, it is worth noting the cost of adult day care is almost always tax-deductible. It can be included as a medical and dental expense. Alternatively, if your loved one is your dependent, the costs can be deductible under the Dependent Care Credit. Rates are charged by Half Session or Full Session as follows:

   Full Session (more than 5 hours): $60.00

   – Offers an eight-hour stay between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Our package includes a continental breakfast, a hot catered lunch, and an afternoon snack.

   Half Session (less than 5 hours): $30.00

   – Offers a four-hour stay between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Our package includes a hot catered lunch and an afternoon snack.
